James has held his Life & Health insurance license since 2022 and works independently, without being tied to a single carrier or a large agency. His day-to-day work focuses on Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plans.
He founded this site to give people a place to check real numbers before talking to an agent — including him — rather than relying on sales conversations alone to understand what something costs.

Why This Site Exists
Government benefit programs like Medicare, Social Security, SNAP, and Veterans Benefits are run by different agencies, each with their own rules, thresholds, and yearly updates. Figuring out what you actually qualify for — or what something will cost you — often means digging through dense agency fact sheets, PDFs, and legal notices that were not written for a general audience.
SeniorGovBenefits.com exists to close that gap. We take the same official figures published by SSA, CMS, the IRS, USDA, and the VA, and turn them into straightforward calculators anyone can use in a few minutes, without needing to understand government formatting or legal language first.
James's Background
James holds an active Life & Health insurance license in Michigan and has worked independently in Medicare Supplement insurance since 2022. His focus is on helping people understand Medigap coverage: what it costs, how it interacts with Original Medicare, and how to compare it against Medicare Advantage before deciding which path fits their situation.
James does not hold AHIP certification and does not sell Medicare Advantage or Part D plans. If your question involves those specific plan types, we'd point you to a licensed agent who holds that certification — and we say so directly rather than stretching his scope to cover it.

How We Keep This Site Accurate
Every calculator and article on this site is built using the same process: we identify the official source for a program, pull the current figures directly from that source, build the calculation logic to match the agency's own rules, and test it against known examples before publishing.
